Dan - To the last part of your article

We have all believed that economic production in society is predominantly either government or corporate run. By corporate I mean the legitimate unit we call a private company, big or small.

I say 'predominantly' because between them are many other entities like trusts, cooperatives, communities, collectives etc.

With new things possible on the net and the wealth of networks showing potent results, community can be a serious alternative for economic activity in society in future.

The problem we still see is that a successful community run venture (like wikipedia) fights shy of seriously contending as a financially profitable entity.

Think of this: why can't we have community ventures run by the community and for the profit of the community.
