Thanks for the comments. Do you see the dependence on the "collective users" as a benefit or drawback at this point?

Is there a natural progression towards an even smarter "we"? If so, what would it take to nudge the process along?

Does the emergence and growth of these integrated online services make it less likely that I’ll spend time wandering the halls of the internet miscellany stopping on anything that catches my eye?

For a while, until you realize you are getting a yahoo's programmatic perspective of what you want and you are slowly becoming a Yahoo!

My second question is how will Yahoo, or Google or anyone else for that matter, know what I want from the internet if I don’t know myself?

I don't think it is possible for Yahoo or Google to know what you want from the Internet, you are in that top 10% of more advanced Internet users.

Is my integrated online service portal only as smart as I am?

I think it is only as smart as the collective users using the tool with a hint of Yahoo's twist on it.

I don't think this one stop shop for all Internet needs is for us alpha Internet users I think it is for that next wave of Social Internet adopters. These are the people who were skeptical of the Internet at first, but now have embraced and adopted email. They are still very influenced by the alpha users in their life and don't make their own decisions.

These are the next 5 years of social networking growth and they need information fed to them through a one stop interface. Kind of like a TV.
