I bought a Wii for my kids and Guitar Hero for my son on Christmas.

I am amazed at how it brings people together, you actually enjoy watching them play and win or lose!

I predict you will see public gatherings of Guitar Hero competitions or similar events.

I can’t believe someone took a vinyl-coated hook (available in any hardware store), screwed it into a square piece of wood and is selling them as GH guitar wall holders.

You have to love capitalism.

There is only one guitar hero… and you’re looking at him! (cue: fake guitar sounds).

In addition to all the folks I know that HATED video games but love guitar hero, there’s a big group that loved the “traditional” video games (sports / guns / gun sports) and now play Guitar Hero almost exclusively. Amazing.

 Kin — thanks for the post about wikinomics on your blog. You are going to get a lot of people “competing” via youtube for top scores, like this guy.

Vincent — that was my thoughts exactly. This guy saw a niche and will do well. At Future Shop before Christmas, I saw wire rack versions of hs product…maybe 8 cents of plastic resin; selling for I think about $40.

I went back to check the price before I wrote the post but couldn’t find it because they were SOLD OUT.

Denis — I was unable to convince one of my friends to try it at New Year’s Eve (she is the type of person that doesn’t like trying something new in public). She said she didn’t like video games to which, of course, three people chimed in unison “it’s not LIKE other video games.”

I played Rock Band over the holidays at a friend’s party. It really takes the social aspect of GH to the next level because you have a guitar, bass, drummer, and singer all “playing” together. Think GH meets karaoke machine, all with glorious HD graphics. The only problem is my friend’s living room is starting to look like a recording studio.

Kin: Here in Toronto (a relatively large city in Canada), we do have Guitar Hero night at a local bar (The Tiger bar on College St. I think), so there you go.

I’ve been shopping around the idea of a Wii night at a local bar and so far no takers, but I’ll have to make my way over to the Tiger bar some time soon…
