Information is no longer something to be hoarded and protected. This definitely makes the work of information managers in any company MORE important and challenging. It also shifts the responsibility of information management higher up the hierarchy, right up to the top. The conversion of information into knowledge is an aspect that requires professional attention at the highest level. According to Peter Drucker, it is a leadership function to identify the informational requirements of the organization. The CEO must tell the CIO what is it that he's looking for, and not vice versa.
While organizations are obsessed with information about customers, according to Drucker we should be looking at what the non-customers are doing to be able to strategize.

The expression "information is power" has been used for some generations now.

Initially it was misunderstood to mean "if I have all the information then I have all the power".

Gradually people have come to realise that so much more powerful when it is interpreted as "if I give you the information and empower you, then I can do even more amazing things".

Examples like this are worth broadcasting. More please !
