The iPhone gets hacked
Thanks to David Cameron for sending this along.
George Hotz of Glen Rock, N.J., confirmed Friday that he had unlocked an iPhone and was using it on T-Mobile’s network, the only major U.S. carrier apart from AT&T that is compatible with the iPhone’s cellular technology. In a video posted to his blog, he holds an iPhone that displays “T-Mobile” as the carrier.
For educational purposes only, here is how to do it.

Albeit the seventeen year old is the first to unlock an iPhone, apparently a company has also found a way to unlock it.

A video is also included in the article demonstrating that it is, in fact, real.
Individual per unit licenses will be available starting next week. However, the company, iphonesimfree.com, are currently only answering inquiries for bulk purchase enquiries of 500 licenses and above.
Be interesting to see what happens in the UK with the Apple iPhone when it launches in a few days time. I personally think all in all there are better phones out there like the LG Viewty already where the hardware is far superior.
